He Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) offers Argentine IT and AI technical students the possibility of completing a internship in Japanese lands. Includes ticket, stay, local transportation, daily travel expenses, insurance and visa.
This internship program contributes to the training of Argentine professionals in the Asian country by creating opportunities for interns to learn about business strategies abroad, various technologies and skills specialized. Those who sign up will go through an evaluation process and personal interviews and, if selected, could travel between August and December 2024in principle for a period of one month.
Internships are a kind of “accelerated learning” that opens the doors to the job market and Japan has become one of the preferred destinations for foreign undergraduate and graduate students around the world. The academic levels offered by the different educational institutions are among the highest and most recognized.
In this program sponsored by the Japanese Government, interns could have experiences about:
- Digital transformation
- New business development leveraging AI technology
- Web design and production for foreign markets
- Market research/marketing in the intern’s country
- Development of services for foreign markets, etc.
What are the requirements to apply for internships for Argentine students offered by Japan?
- Be Argentinian or have citizenship of a country on the OECD/DAC list (excluding the People’s Republic of China).
- Have experience with the use of IT and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Must be able to communicate in English or Japanese.
- Be aligned with objectives of this program. They must be able to fully commit to internships and training in companies and be available for scheduled activities in accordance with the activity plan presented to the administrative office.
- They must comply with any additional requirement specified by individual companies.
Additionally, interns must:
- Collaborate with company representatives to develop internship plans (including roles and objectives for both parties).
- Participate in the prior training and in the presentation of results.
- Ensure the management of security and health through active communication, reporting and consultation with the back office and host company.
- Present the documentsnotifications and reports required before, during and after the internship period.
- Demonstrate awareness as a participant in a project funded by public funds from the Japanese government.
What does the Japan Internship Program include?
The Japanese Government offers interns who participate in this program:
- Coverage of round trip airfare.
- Accommodation during the stay and local transportation.
- Training prior to the internship.
- daily per diem ¥3,000 (about US$19 per day) for the entire stay.
How to register for Japan internships and when is there time?
In the case of the computer engineersthe deadline to sign up is this Thursday June 20. Then, on June 22 and 23, a programming contest will be held.
As for the AI engineersyou have time to register until Sunday June 30th. During those days you will also be able to participate in an optional information session.
Then, in both cases (for the IT and for the IA) during the month of July 2024 will be carried out interviews matchmaking with future companies for participants with high scores and at the end of July the company selection where they will do the internship.
In the month of August there will be a mandatory online pre-training. Then, from the end of August until December 2024, students will be ready to travel to japan and begin your internship which will last approximately one month. Specific dates will be agreed with the internship company.
From December to February 2024 will be the “post-internship” period, which consists of participating in different surveys, interviews, etc.
