Saying goodbye to gasoline as a source of engine energy has been the holy grail for manufacturers. There are more supporters who think that we should migrate to another fuel, such as this one, which, combined with a state-of-the-art engine, promises very low emissions.

The brand that refuses to abandon internal combustion engines

Although the car manufacturer Renault, one of the largest in the world, agrees to reach zero-emission engines, bet on the engine that uses diesel as fuel complying with this requirement. For its development, it created a group that brings together this technology.

It is called Horse, and has signed an agreement with the Italian Dumarey consortium. This association is based on the criterion that, although the electric car is becoming very popular, it is not doing so quickly enough. This is due to the lack of infrastructure and autonomy problems.

Diesel: the fuel with which Renault will say goodbye to gasoline

As the start of their partnership, Dumarey and Horse will work together on the design of a diesel engine. This will have two liters of displacement and four cylinders, with manual transmission, and will have very low CO2 emissions and exceptional performance per liter of fuel.

In principle, this engine would be fitted to Euro 6 models with rear transmission and Euro 7 with front transmission. This agreement is expected to be the entry for many others that will help decarbonize the industry, including for the design of future hydrogen engines.

For the latter, it relies on the experience that the Dumarey company has gained through its Hydrocells division. While Horse leverages its prestige and impeccable service record, as well as its strong inclination towards research and development of viable solutions.

And this new diesel engine with very low emissions, which is on the design table, may mean the permanence of an old and inefficient technology, transformed into a much more sustainable one where diesel fuel will be the main protagonist.

Likewise, the appearance of this engine will occur at a crucial stage, since there are places in Spain and throughout the planet in which crusades are being made to eradicate cars that pollute with high greenhouse gas emissions.

Although hybrid, electric and hydrogen engines meet low or zero emissions standards, they have not been able to free themselves from serious drawbacks such as being very expensive in fuel and having low performance. So they are not available to everyone.

An issue that, for the moment, Renault seems to have resolved through Horse and the Dumarey Group with the new internal combustion engine in design, which has very low emissions and uses a fuel that is very cheap and it is in all countries: diesel.

But it’s not just about a new engine, it’s also about its propulsion.

Here we have the long experience of the Dumarey Group staff, who are first-line specialists in automotive integrated controls and advanced propulsion systems. So both companies complement each other perfectly.

Horse has stated that on the issue of sustainability and environmental care there is no single solution, which is why together with Dumarey they are committed to the creation and supply of high quality products that are non-polluting.

Goodbye to gasoline? It seems that this farewell is very close to being a reality to reach the use of diesel as fuel, thanks to the new engine technology that Renault has in design. Now we just have to wait and see the results.
