Top news

Pixels Chapter 2: Pixels, the Ronin-based farming game, just released its big Chapter 2 update, which includes the implementation of new systems to help strengthen the game sustainability. The team states that the update is not a complete change and requires the player to “discover a ‘new game’ by unraveling the layers.”

Chapter 2 features changes to resource gathering and crafting, and introduces a new resource ranking system. Additionally, tools have different Minecraft-style levels and will lose durability over time. The free-to-play land has also received a small overhaul that aims to help players who don’t pay for upgrades progress more easily.

We interviewed Pixels founder Luke Barwikowski about the motivation behind the update and how his studio went through a brief identity crisis following the game’s runaway success.

Konami NFT Platform: Konami Digital Entertainment—the Japanese video game giant behind franchises like Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and Castlevania—announced Thursday that will launch an NFT platform called Resella in the Avalanche blockchain.

This platform aims to make it easier for companies to integrate blockchain technology and issue NFTs, both for games and other types of applications. According to Konami, Resella eliminates the need for users to open an external cryptocurrency wallet or handle cryptocurrencies at all. It will be aimed at Japanese home users, but also plans to accommodate global users.

Telegram boom: If you’ve been following our coverage lately, you’ve surely noticed the growing number of Telegram-based games attracting millions of players with promises of token rewards. It all started with Notcoin earlier this year, but the recent Hamster Kombat game has reportedly reached over 150 million players, and several games continue to emerge.

We’ve started to expand our coverage on some of those other titles, including PixelTap from Pixelverse, Yescoin, TapSwap, and Catizen, with more to come on those games and other emerging cryptocurrency titles on Telegram.

OpenSeason Airdrop: The creators of the Ethereum game OpenSeason, similar to Fortnite, last week launched their token airdrop. Holders of the Fractional Uprising Studios NFT, which is currently required to play the game, began receiving tokens on tuesday afternoon.

The FU token (short for FU Money) in Arbitruman Ethereum Layer 2 scaling network, is now valued above a market cap of $11 million, according to CoinGecko. 10% of the total token supply was automatically sent to NFT holders via airdrop, based on three previous ownership snapshots.
