Seoul, June 28 (.).- The main index of the Seoul stock market, the , gained 0.49% today, Friday, pending the publication of weight data in the US.

The South Korean benchmark rose 13.76 points to 2,797.82 points, while the technology index advanced 1.79 points, or 0.21%, to 840.44 points.

The South Korean stock market remained on tenterhooks during the session ahead of the publication today of the US personal consumption expenditure (PCE) data for May, an indicator that can help anticipate the next moves by the Federal Reserve.

Foreign and institutional traders were the main buyers today in a session in which the fall of many important stocks was offset by increases in the chemical and financial sectors.

In that sense, LG Chem (KS:) appreciated 0.44% and Woori Financial Group improved 1.66%.

The benchmark token on the Seoul Stock Exchange, the technology giant Samsung Electronics (KS:), lost 0.12% today, and the world’s second largest memory chip manufacturer, SK Hynix (KS:), closed unchanged .

South Korean internet giant Naver (KS:) gained 0.91%, while the nation’s No. 1 metals company Posco (KS:) climbed 0.97%.

Biopharmaceutical company Samsung Biologics fell 0.68%, while South Korea’s leading carmaker, Hyundai Motor (KS:), fell 1.01%, and its subsidiary Kia Motors (KS:) fell 1.67%.
