Aitex renews its management team. The Textile Technology Institute (Aitex), which held its extraordinary general meeting yesterday, has re-elected León Grau as the leader of the entity for four more years, until 2028. The executive was appointed president of Aitex in 2020 and joined the entity replacing Rafael Bernabeuwho ended his term after four years at the helm.

“I believe that business relationships generate knowledge. I believe in collaboration between businessmen, even when they are competition. I am convinced that the combination of researcher and business leads to opening the door to success, whose main beneficiary is society,” the businessman said in a statement.

Grau has a degree in Law from the University of Valencia and a master’s degree in Business Legal Advice from the Instituto de Empresa. The manager began his career in 1992 at the British company Courtaulds Fibers..

In 1993, the businessman joined the textile company Hilaturas Miel and was also part of the Enrile group. In 2000, Grau founded Verema and, between 2004 and 2014, the businessman was president of the Alcoià-Comtat Business Federation (Acetex), until being named vice president of Aitex in 2016.

Grau will be in charge of the entity until 2028

Aitex is the reference center for innovation, research and technological development in Spain and one of the main ones in Europe. With more than 35 years of experience, the entity is committed to constant investment in infrastructureproviding solutions to companies and promoting the development of various productive sectors in the present and in the future.

Among the latest milestones of Aitex is the objective of reducing the impact of the sector on the environment. The association has launched the project Tinable to develop natural dyes that can be used in the textile industry.

The project consisted of studying the technical feasibility of using dyes and auxiliary products of natural origin in natural fabrics, avoiding chemical and non-renewable raw materials, thus expanding the line of work of previous projects carried out by Aitex, such as Natural Fun and Microcolor.
