The meetings industry in Latin America and Mexico continues to consolidate itself as a key economic driver.

It is due to this scenario that it has been announced that Mexico City will witness the launch of a business meeting that promises to revolutionize the events industry, thus giving life to world-class projects in the heart of the country.

We are talking about Capital Meetings 2025, whose launch was attended by the three founding partners of the project: David Hidalgo, CEO and Co-Founder of Tree Alliance and President of PCMA Mexico; Pedro López Chaltelt, CEO of HIT Experience Science and Co-Founder of Tree Alliance; and Alejandro Escalante, General Director of Paralelo Meetings & Events and President Elect 2025-2026 of MPI Mexico Chapter.

During the event, David Hidalgo highlighted that ‘the events industry is experiencing an authentic revolution in Latin America, with a notable growth in the number of international events and a modernization of our infrastructure. Mexico has experienced an impressive post-pandemic recovery, with growth in the meetings industry, which contributed 1.52% of the national GDP in 2022 and increased to 1.62% in 2023, generating an economic benefit close to 14 thousand pesos for each assistant, according to data from the Mexican Council of the Meetings Industry, COMIR’.

‘Without a doubt, the sector is recovering, so growth is projected to increase and continue its contribution to the national economy, with the expectation of achieving annualized growth of between 8% and 9%.’

In addition, Hidalgo added that ‘today we know that the total expenditure of the Meetings Industry in Mexico in 2023 was $119,962 billion pesos, of which 32% is allocated to food and beverages, 27% to accommodation, 13% to ground transportation and 28% to other services such as cultural, recreational and entertainment services, according to the Meetings Industry Barometer. Currently, there is no space that gives visibility to more than 60% of these services in the megalopolis, so Capital Meetings represents the space where this market will become visible.’

For his part, Pedro López Chaltelt added that ‘Capital Meetings is presented as the epicenter where creativity and collaboration converge, bringing together the main players in the events industry in the heart of Mexico, and whose purpose is to unite the local supply of events that unfortunately until today do not have a true exhibition showcase. Capital Meetings seeks to strengthen, train and link a large part of the little-explored, but strategic value chain for the event organizer. We are talking about all those suppliers that enrich an attendee’s experience when participating in an event: food and beverage suppliers, cultural services, audio, lighting, entertainment and unconventional venues. Capital Meetings aims to professionalize this entire industry to unite us, strengthen us and attract more and more world-class events to our country.’

This platform promises to be a laboratory to work together, generate ideas, challenge monotony and embrace innovation as a driver of change for the meetings and events industry.

Capital Meetings will take place on March 11 and 12, 2025 at the WTC in Mexico City and is expected to be attended by 1,500 professionals, event and experience organizers, as well as brands specialized in event and experience design, and an educational program with 20 conferences and 8 workshops that seek to strengthen the creativity of event professionals.

Alejandro Escalante emphasized the purpose of Capital Meetings, stating that ‘our objective is to become a catalyst for new businesses and inspire attendees, to connect them and help them transcend in their respective fields. Among the unique features it offers, 7 interaction zones designed to promote networking among attendees stand out; the Learning Experience, a set of educational experiences; and Capital Club, an exclusive program where attendees become active members from the first edition of Capital Meetings, and will benefit as the project grows, because the benefits for our partners, exhibitors and sponsors also increase.’

The executives also presented the strategic allies that will amplify the Capital Meetings experience, these are WTC Mexico City, RLA LATAM Event Services & Technologies, Smart Speakers and HIT Experience Science; allies who play a crucial role in creating an environment where attendees can experience first-hand the latest innovations in the events industry.

Capital Meetings 2025 promises to be a must-attend event for everyone involved in the events industry. With its focus on innovation, networking and professional development, it is positioned as the benchmark event for the sector in the region.
