King Felipe has continued with his agenda on his youngest daughter’s birthday
Infanta Sofía celebrates her 17th birthday away from home for the first time
April 29 is a date marked on the calendar of the Royal Family but, this year, even more so. The Infanta Sofia turns 17 and it is the first time that the youngest daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia celebrates her birthday away from home, as she is studying the first of the International Baccalaureate courses at Atlantic College in Wales. Princess Leonor’s younger sister is in the middle of term and doesn’t have a vacation for several weeks, so her birthday has caught her on a school day.
She has not been the only one who has been busy this date. King Felipe VI has also had at least one official commitment, to which is added Pedro Sánchez’s early morning visit to the Zarzuela Palace. The monarch participated in Madrid on a visit to the Center of Excellence against Improvised Explosive Devices (CoE-C-IED), located in Hoyo de Manzanares. This center is responsible for providing experience and exercising leadership in the fight against improvised explosive devices, to reinforce the security of Spanish and allied forces deployed in operations.
While King Felipe VI has participated in this visit, in the case of Queen Letizia, there are no official commitments with media coverage on her agenda, which means that Infanta Sofía’s mother could be focused on what is known as office work, or, having taken the opportunity to visit his youngest daughter on her birthday.
An atypical week
Beyond the birthday of Infanta Sofía, this week is somewhat atypical in terms of agenda, due to the holidays on May 1 and 2, in which, logically, the agenda of the Kings is completely clear. He King Felipe VI will close its official commitments before the holidays this Tuesday, with two institutional appointments. In the morning he will be at the Institutional Ceremony Commemorating the 50th anniversary of CUNEF University and, in the afternoon, he will preside over the delivery of the VII Edition of the National SME of the Year Award.
It will be Saturday, May 4, when we see Don Felipe and Doña Letizia together again. The Kings will travel to the facilities of the General Military Academy of Zaragozawhere Princess Leonor is focused on her military training, to participate in the Commemorative Act of the 40th anniversary of the Flag Oath of the XLIV Promotion of the AGM, to which Felipe VI himself belongs.
As has been confirmed, in addition to presiding over the commemorative event, King Felipe will join his more than 200 classmates to kiss the Flag again.
