The renowned Colombian comedian Frank ‘el Flaco’ Martínez passed through the microphones of W Weekend to talk about his new show, ‘Transcender’, which is presented at the Teatro Libre.
In this show people will find the best repertoire of ‘el Flaco’, but also his main characteristic, improvisation in humor.
“It is a seal that characterizes me and I like it a lot. If improvising was good, imagine now that I have time. “This show is very good for people who don’t know me,” she said.
How did you decide to become a comedian?
He said that it was thanks to the faith that a woman had in him who, noticing that he had great potential to make people laugh, decided to enroll him in ‘The Comedians of the Night’, a program with comedians.
“Sometimes I feel like people believe in you more than yourself.. When they called me from RCN I thought they were kidding me, but it was thanks to her that I ended up winning the call; That was the first push,” she mentioned.
“There I realized that I could do comedy, it didn’t scare me and that new world opened up.. All thanks to the influence that people’s trust had in me,” she added.
After several years in comedy, Martínez believes that his contribution to the world is that “everyone is kinder”because he feels that when you make people laugh, they are very grateful.
Finally, he spoke to the depression among comedians, ensuring that “laughter covers (that condition), but it also helps a lot”.
“Since I was 16 years old, they told me that I suffered from depression, although humor has helped me a lot to entertain myself,” he concluded.
