It was during the 39th edition of the Guadalajara Film Festival, that the actor Alfredo Castro expressed his rejection of the situation experienced by the Palestinian people and the role played by the Government of Israel, on a day that also had speeches against the Argentine Government of Javier Milei.

According to the EFE news agency, the national actor was honored for his career by receiving the Mayahuel Ibero-American Award.

It was at that moment that Alfredo Castro took advantage of the opportunity to launch his message. “I cannot help but express my repudiation of the genocide of the Israeli Army against the Palestinian people. (…) In front of you I ask for humanity, respect and peace for the Palestinian people”, provoking applause from the public.

But the Chilean film ‘The fabulous gold harvesting machinefrom the director Alfredo Pourailly, with the award for Best Ibero-American Documentary Feature Film and the prize of the Federation of Image and Sound Schools of Latin America.

Mexican actor Diego Luna, meanwhile, won the silver Mayahuel Award for his career as an actor, director and producer.

Another of the awards of the day went to the Brazilian film ‘Pedágio’from the director Carolina Markowiczwho was the top winner of the festival by taking the awards to Best Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film, Best Performance for actress Maeve Jinkings and the Maguey to the Best Sexual Diversity Cinema Filml.

On the occasion there were also speeches rejecting the anti-cinema policies promoted by the Argentine President, Javier Milei, with a poster with the legend: ‘Out Milei’.

He Mezcal Award for Best Mexican Film it was for fiction’They will not move us‘, from the director Pierre Saint-Martin, which also won the Audience Award.

The Guadalajara Film Festival concluded with the screening of the film ‘Kind of Kindness‘, from the director Yorgos Lanthimos.
