There are films that mark a before and after in the childhood and adolescence of people around the world, especially if fantasy and action take precedence. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was one of the most popular films of 2005, the year it was released; so much so that they released two more deliveries after the first. The young woman, who is currently 28 years old, achieved fame for her role as Lucy Pevensie, the girl who discovered a magical world through the closet, precisely where the adventure began. But far from fiction, in real life she had to live an event that marked her forever and that has little to do with magic. At the age of 18 she found out that she suffered from necrotizing fasciitis, a strange disease from which she almost lost an arm, a fact that she revealed some time ago.

According to the United Kingdom National Health Service, this condition is caused by bacteria and can occur if a wound becomes infected and requires immediate hospital treatment. The bacteria release toxins that damage nearby tissue, and early flu-like symptoms can quickly turn into vomiting and swelling of affected areas and lead to serious problems such as blood poisoning (sepsis) and organ failure.

Through a publication on her Instagram account, the young woman explained that the infection left her scars that she wanted to hide throughout her life. “I experienced the shame of feeling different. It took me a long time to heal both physically and mentally, but I hoped that one day it would be the right time to talk about what happened. “Today is a beginning,” she began her saying.
