Many women grew up listening to the songs of Chayannethey admired him so much that they called themselves “his girlfriends” and said the same thing—jokingly—to their children as a sign that they liked him when they were in their teens.

Social networks helped all the people who have this shared experience to identify themselves and a common joke began with phrases like “Chayanne’s children” and “my real father is Chayanne.”

This Sunday, just on Father’s Day, Chayanne finally “recognised” all of his self-declared children through X, he even called himself “The Dad of Latin America”:

“A very special big hug to all the parents on their day. Att: The father of Latin America. I love you!

This message sparked many comments that continued the collective joke that has been built over the years and to which even Chayanne joined in.

These were the opinions that could be read in the publication that gathered almost 200 thousand “Likes”:

“The father of an entire generation”, “Dad, I miss you, come back”, “Dad, does my mother say why didn’t you come to my 15th birthday to sing Waltz time?”, “My daughters send you to congratulate”, “How do we say no, if yes?”, among others.

May 10 was not only a day to remember mothers for their work inside and outside the home, but also to celebrate some of their musical idols. This year, two artists stood out in social media trends: Chayanne and Denisse de Kalafe. As usual, the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter continues to be a sensation among Mexican women, especially those who became his fans in the 1980s.

Mother’s Day is one of the most important celebrations in Mexico, and Chayanne’s influence was noted again. The singer’s figure was not only part of images and digital cards that circulated on all platforms, but he himself revitalized his official X account – previously known as Twitter – to send a congratulation to his followers: “I want to extend a tender congratulations to all my Mexican fans who are mothers.” The impact was immediate. Within a few seconds, his post was filled with thanks and affectionate messages, including humorous claims of his “Mexican children.”

This digital phenomenon has become a constant, where various memes and comic messages circulate every year around Chayanne. Among the comments, the following stood out: “Dad, when are you going to come see us at the house?” “At least you recognize her.” Although these messages carry a tone of humor, they reflect the deep affection and relevance that Chayanne has in the lives of many mothers in Mexico.

On the other hand, Denisse de Kalafe, known for her famous song dedicated to mothers, was also a trend. However, Chayanne’s presence on the networks was more prominent due to the emotional impact and the connection that she maintains with her audience after so many decades.

It should be noted that this date varies in other Latin American countries. For example, in Puerto Rico, Mother’s Day is celebrated on May 12. These differences in dates do not prevent Chayanne’s followers in different regions from coming together to express their affection for the singer at any opportunity.
