How well a good wrestling movie goes in. The seventh art is full of gems of the genre that are capable of catching even to those who have not seen a wrestling match in their life. Even with ‘El Clan del Hierro’ burned into our memory, we are already looking forward to the next big premiere based on the theme: ‘The Smashing Machine‘.
If the first was a biographical drama about the legendary Von Erich family, the second will be another biopic with overtones of tragedy that will tell the life and work of Mark Kerr, two-time UFC heavyweight champion. And if the first one had an unrecognizable and very swollen Zac Effron as its protagonist, wait until you see the appearance of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the second. Since he could not grow or inflate any more, the actor (and former professional wrestler) has chosen to change your face completely to get into character. Watch out for their new images.
The movie, planned for 2025“follows Mark Kerr during his heyday as fight against addiction, victory and love”. It will be based on the documentary of the same name and will feature the talent of Emily Bluntwith whom The Rock already demonstrated special chemistry in ‘Jungle Cruise’.
Johnson is taking this project so seriously that, while training for it, a few weeks ago he suffered a rupture of the bursa sac which cushions the muscles, bones and tendons in our joints. An injury that he showed in a painful Instagram post in which he assured that it was not going to stop him in this adventure. “I have had worse, and I always leave May pain and tequila guide me”.
