What happened to the life of Paula Colombini, the former model who opted for a venture linked to nature

Paula Colombini She was one of the top models of the ’90s. At 18 years old, She left the CBC of Image and Sound Design at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) to live and model in two fashion capitals, New York and Paris.

Despite her undisputed success, she abandoned the catwalks and opted for different ventures related to design and clothing. So he had a clothing business and his own brand. Until in the pandemic he discovered his true passion: the garden and everything linked to nature.

However, I had always had a great interest in these issues, until then I had done it at home and self-taught. But some time ago she decided to transform it into your entrepreneurship and life project.

In dialogue with TN ShowColombini spoke about the launch of Beetroot (@betarragaporpaula), a brand that invites “to put our hands on the earth and explore sustainability to root ourselves.” Fascinated with the new side of her, the former model assures: “Luxury is in nature”.

Paula Colombini has had a garden for more than 20 years, but now he decided to turn that interest into a business. “For me it is a life project. I was always linked to the topic, but the pandemic completely affected me and I wanted to do something that really caught my attention. I started to think and said ‘I know how to cultivate, sow’… It was like the tip of the iceberg. “I felt like my body had exploded and I didn’t stop,” she said.

His interest comes from pleasure and satisfaction that comes from working the land. “I get up very early, type 5, 5:30 in the morning and sometimes they turn on the light because it’s getting dark and I’m still in the garden,” she commented. And she remarked: “It is a place where I am very reflective. For me, the garden is a way of communicating and putting my hands in the earth is very healing. I truly believe that luxury is in nature.”

Paula started with projects, such as, build a botanical terrace in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires. “We filled the RoofTop40 with native plants. Today there are hummingbirds, butterflies and bees, all the pollinators we need to live”, he said. However, she did not want her connection with the garden to remain in sporadic interventions, she wanted to turn it into her life project and dedicate herself fully to it. It was then that decided to create Betarraga.

Taking the plunge was not easy, but her loved ones encouraged her to leave her fears aside.. “At first I started with the no… I was insecure about not having a degree, but my environment supported me and encouraged me. There I said ‘I have a lot of experience and I’m going to speak from there’. And along the way I met people who studied a lot, who are very generous and who want to share what they know.. All of that gave me the confidence to start,” she noted.

In addition, he trained with different courses: “When I first started, I started with some booklets, super self-taught. But then I got into it much more fully. Now I study landscaping with native plants, I take a course on soil, compost, I go as a listener to the Faculty of Botany in Luján…”. ““I found my passion and I feel very lucky”she assured, excited about her present.

Betarraga was in the making for months and was officially launched just two weeks ago. It was born as a website, but Paula assures that it is the kickoff of a great project.

Regarding the proposal, he noted: “I started with two organic garden workshops and terrace assemblya environmentally friendly products store and a dialogue section in which I talk with those who know the most. There is also a part of services through which I carry out several projects.”

Asked about the choice of the name, she explained: “Betarraga means beet, it is a term that I find very nice and musical. Furthermore, beets are a product that I like because of their color, because you can eat what is above and what is below, that is, you feed on what you see and what you do not see, and because it is very resilient.”

Paula Colombini remembered her time as a model and reflected on the transformations

Paula Colombini lived a golden age with modeling, however, today she doesn’t miss any of that. “I was very happy, I loved what I did and I think that part of who I am today is part of who I was. I don’t deny it at all because I had an excellent career.e, where I did what I wanted, with the things that came out and the things that didn’t,” he said as a balance.

In this sense, she highlighted: “I am super proud because with basic needs fully covered, I always felt like I could choose. And just as one day I no longer chose that, today I choose this. That possibility of transformation is very important.”

Reflective, she expressed: “My great transformation began at 35, when you are supposed to continue with what you have been doing, especially if it goes well for you. But the power of transformation exists and you simply have to be encouraged and not frustrated”.

Today, he has a great connection with the public through social networks. “It’s nice, it makes me very happy that you like what I do, that you ask me things and that what I share is useful to you,” she concluded.
