Edwin Arrieta Arteaga He was a native of Lorica, in Córdoba, and recently traveled to the island of Koh Phangan, in Thailand, to take a few days off and enjoy its Full Moon parties.
However, this vacation time ended in tragedy. The body of the 44-year-old surgeon was found dismembered inside some black bags located in a rubbish dump on Koh Phangan.
This Saturday the son of the actor Rodolfo Sancho admitted to having murdered and dismembered the plastic surgeon Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, in this Asian country. Arrieta Arteaga worked in Montería, where he operated in a successful clinic. On his website it is stated that his work was aimed at “generally healthy patients who do not feel comfortable with their physical body.”
Arrieta and Sancho arrived in Thailand on July 31. Both shared moments in different areas of Koh Phangan. The Thai outlet Bangkok Post News affirms that the crime was due to jealousy, after a year of secret relationship.
The local Bangkok Post, which quotes relatives of the murdered, stated that both were lovers and had been in a relationship for more than a year. The Police have added that Sancho threw parts of Arrieta’s body into a landfill, while others he threw into the sea.
More body parts were found in a plastic bag on Friday in the same place, containing two legs, a black T-shirt, a pair of shorts, and a pair of underpants.
The investigators of the case told that Daniel Sancho would have explained that he took Arrieta to his room and that the man wanted to have sex, but that he refused. Then, in a fit of rage, he struck him, causing the victim to fall to the ground and lose consciousness after another hit to the head with a bathtub.
Later, according to the Thai authorities, Sancho “cut the body into 14 pieces” and put some parts in various bags that he dumped in the dump. Other remains he put into a travel bag that he threw into the sea from Salad beach, near his hotel.
Likewise, the local Bangkok Post reported that Sancho and Arrieta had agreed to meet on the island, where they had a hotel reservation from July 31 to August 3. In the room, forensic officers collected samples of hair, grease and tissue from the drain. The results will be known this Sunday.
In addition, authorities added that the relatives of the Colombian surgeon have told investigators that the man had a relationship of more than a year with Sancho and that both had agreed to meet in Thailand to attend the full moon party, where the beaches are full of DJs playing music until dawn.
This way, Daniel Sancho, 29, the son of Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, turned himself in to the Thai authorities and confessed to having murdered and dismembered the plastic surgeon of Colombian origin Edwin Arrieta Arteaga.
