Shakira traveled urgently to the city of Barranquilla, Colombia due to a deterioration in the health of her father, William Mebarak, who was in intensive care due to severe pneumonia.
The singer decided to keep a low profile in the face of the situation, but she did not hesitate to celebrate and thank the medical team when her 92-year-old father was discharged to continue his recovery at home.
In a statement she wrote on her Instagram account, the Colombian recounted what she had experienced in recent days: “18 days ago I arrived from the emergency room in Barranquilla to accompany my father and fight alongside him. Yesterday, thanks to the great human and medical team at the Clínica Iberoamericana, and his incredible strength, I was able to take him back home to my mother’s side, who never lets go of his hand,” she thanked.

Thank you all for sending me his strength and affection, and also for never letting go of my hand,” she added.
For approximately 2 years, the health of William Mebarak, the singer’s father, has been deteriorating. In 2022 he suffered a fall and hit his head, which is why he had to be hospitalized in Barcelona. In 2023, a Hakim valve was inserted to combat hydrocephalus, and since then, the merchant has been hospitalized on several occasions. (NA)
