Born in 1986Leighton had a start that could have predicted a very different destiny. Constance Lynnher mother, was arrested while she was pregnant with her, involved in a drug trafficking ring along with Douglas Jay MeesterLeighton’s father. Constance gave birth to Leighton in prison, and the little girl spent her first few months in an orphanage. Most of her relatives, including her aunt and maternal grandfather, were also incarcerated for their links to the drug gang.
Eventually, Leighton was released to her grandmother. “My family has a crazy history. Probably the craziest I’ve ever heard of,” the actress confessed in an interview with Marie Claire in 2012. Leighton holds no ill will towards his family. “I can’t judge my mother for what she did before I was born. She and my father are good people,” she explained, reflecting a deep and mature understanding of her complicated heritage. “I look back now and see it positively. It wasn’t easy, but I played, I went to the beach…. There were happy and fun moments,” she recalled.
Despite these tumultuous beginnings, Leighton found crucial support in her family to pursue her dream of becoming an actress and model. Leighton had agreed to send her mother $7,500 a month for her younger brother’s medical expenses, but discovered that Constance was using the money for cosmetic surgeries. This led to a bitter legal battle. Her mother sued her, claiming they had a verbal agreement to receive $10,000 a month. Additionally, she demanded more money, arguing that she had sacrificed her own happiness and stability to support her daughter’s career.

Following the bitter legal dispute with his mother, Meester took significant steps to rebuild his life and career.
