Actor Ian McKellen, in “good spirits” after falling off the stage at a theater in London


English actor Ian McKellen is in “good spirits” and hopes a quick recovery after falling off the stage on Monday during a performance at the Noel Coward theater in London, according to a spokesperson for that venue.

The 85-year-old actorknown for acting in the saga of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ plays John Falstaff in a production of ‘Player Kings’a modern version of playwright William Shakespeare’s ‘Henry IV’, in London’s West End.

“Thank you to our audience and the general public for their well wishes following Ian’s fall during tonight’s performance of Player Kings,” a spokesperson for the London theater said.

“After a review, The brilliant Public Health team has assured us that he will recover quickly and completely. and that Ian is in good spirits. “The production made the decision to cancel the presentation on Tuesday, June 18 so that Ian can rest,” he added.

After the accident, the theater informed viewers that the rest of the evening’s performance was cancelled.

McKellen’s career spans more than six decades, but he is best known for his performances in JRR Tolkien’s trilogy, as well as various characters in Shakespeare’s works, including Richard II, MacBeth, Coriolanus and King Lear.
