Tokyo, May 7 (EFECOM).- The Japanese video game developer and distributor Nintendo announced this Tuesday that it will present the successor to its Switch console during the current fiscal year, which will run until March 31, 2025.
“We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. More than nine years will have passed since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch in March 2015,” the company shared in a message posted on its social network profile. X and signed by its president, Shuntaro Furukawa.
The iconic Japanese video game company revealed that they will publish one of their Nintendo Direct news videos in June to present their line of games for the second half of fiscal year 2024, but specified that there will be no mention of the Switch successor in said event. , without providing more details about when the expected announcement will take place.
Nintendo’s message coincides with the publication this Tuesday of its financial report for the year 2023, in which it recorded a record net profit of 490,602 million yen (about 2,950 million euros) thanks to the positive impact of the cinematic release of ‘Super Mario Bros.: the Movie’ and sustained sales of the Switch family of consoles and its games.
Analysts and investors were eagerly awaiting some news about the new console that Nintendo is working on, when Switch has already entered its ninth year of life.
