Do you know how the government structure is made up? We are less and less attentive to everything, I invite you to focus on this reading, it may be useful to you. Neiva, with its strategic location and consistent welcoming Latin climate, has a lot of untapped potential. According to the Competitiveness ranking of the Institute for Management Development, Colombia is far behind in position 58 out of 64, barely beating Botswana! Huila is 12th out of 33. Neiva, in the heart of Colombia, is in 13th place among the 32 capitals of the Cities Competitiveness Index (ICC). There is an urgent need for action and repositioning, yes?

“Competitiveness” comes from the Latin “competere” which is “to seek or strive together.” We all hope that the capital of the Magdalena River achieves greater competitiveness then and can develop both as a center of innovation and entrepreneurial progress for the gentleman’s pocket and the lady’s purse…

I applaud the existence of the Competitiveness Secretariat of the mayor of Neiva, which plays a crucial role in this objective, for its ability to collaborate, with all its tools, with the revitalization of the local economy and its ability to promote business development through of innovative programs such as Strengthening. This portfolio began to group together, based on the current austerity plan to Recover Neiva, several incredibly useful programs for promoting a modern economy.

Embracing a true internationalization of our city is one of its key aspects. We need to open ourselves to the world and attract creative investments and make our culture and gastronomy known. This office also supports the visionary entrepreneurial spirit. It seeks to raise the visibility of Neiva, soon turning it into an original tourist attraction.

Neiva must strengthen its small business fabric, strengthen it with a support network that nourishes growth from its roots, promoting strategic alliances with the Chamber of Commerce or Fenalco that many people still do not know the difference and can contribute a lot. Generate a true entrepreneurial culture.

We must promote more and better training. In a world in which the knowledge economy is increasingly important as a source of competitive advantage, education and job skills training are essential for a successful city. Likewise, more than employment, the Ministry of Competitiveness, through its Employability Program, collaborates to ensure that there is more dignified and decent work.

Tourism, especially in its rural area, together with community participation, should generate a productive ecosystem that could be engines for the local economy as well. Promote a productive culture of customer service. The collaboration between businessmen, entrepreneurs and the mayor’s office is a synergy that, through the Secretariat of Competitiveness, can improve the quality of life, promoting sustainable development and a pole of global competitiveness where social and economic well-being go hand in hand.

I invite you to take advantage of what you have and participate in this awakening together. Let’s react.
