Not even the Police themselves believed such an event involving a woman identified as Kawara Welchwho would have harassed a doctor to the point of exhaustion, calling him around 500 times and sending him 1,300 messages in one day.
They both met in 2018 when Kawara attended a consultation for a depression issue, but the doctor did not imagine that in 2019 he would be forced to take action on the matter. for the beginning of a dangerous intensity.
“She had access to my cell phone and sent me disturbing messages and photostying a sheet, a rope around his neck, saying goodbye to me. I panicked”said the doctor, who preferred to remain anonymous.
The doctor assured that that woman would have contacted his son and his wife, situation that was already the limit.
“There were moments of horror, when I panicked, because he appeared or did something unexpected”he explained.
The situation became even murkier when Welch began sending him threatening messages after he decided to stop seeing her at the clinic.
“He sent me 1,300 messages and more than 500 connections in a single day. I changed my phone number about three or four times, but I stopped changing it because I saw that it was totally useless. “It was incredibly easy to find my new number,” said the doctor.
Everything got worse when he claimed that she even chased him in the street; But in 2022, Welch burst into his consultation with a patient, which caused a strong argument with his wife when he found out what happened.
In 2023, the authorities detained the woman, but she only lasted a week after paying bail of 3,500 Brazilian reals. However, in March of that same year, the court ordered his preventive detention for once again failing to comply with the precautionary measures.
Kawara’s defense assured that both the doctor and the woman had a romantic relationship, but the person involved denied this statement.
“We believe there was no such relationship. And, even if there were, it does not in any way justify this type of actions, this type of behavior from Kawara”said Police Chief Rafael Faria.
For a year, the doctor and his wife have been undergoing psychological treatment to heal and forget this episode.
