The District Health Secretariat of Bogotá, led by Secretary Gerson Bermont, has started a series of meetings with representatives of various health institutions to discuss the implementation of the new Health Care Model, called +MAS Bienestar. This model is an integral part of the District Development Plan and seeks an effective articulation of all actors in the health sector to provide quality care to all Bogota residents.

Key meeting with private institutions

Leaders from renowned health institutions in the city participated in the meeting held this Monday, such as the Santa Fe Foundation, Palermo Clinic, Shaio Clinic Foundation, Marly Clinic, Cardio Infantil Foundation, Country Clinic, West Clinic, Roosevelt Institute, and Javesalud. IPS. During the meeting, the importance of collaborative work was emphasized to achieve the effective implementation of the new care model.

Secretary Bermont highlighted that “The territories, and in this case Bogotá, must be entities that provide response and resolution for the benefit of all the citizens of the city.” He stressed that Bogotá’s new health model, established in the District Development Plan, differs from previous models by its focus on adequate articulation between all actors in the system, including insurers.

Bermont pointed out that in previous models there was no effective integration between the different components of the health system, which generated fragmented care. “The city and the community demand to close gaps and the commitment is based on articulation, quick and decisive responses”he claimed.

For his part, Henry Gallardo, general director of the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation, emphasized the responsibility of the health sector. “organize work teams at the service of the city and guide the health sector because we want it to do well”. Gallardo highlighted the importance of generating a document that compiles the initiatives that can contribute to the development of best practices in the provision of the service, thus enriching the construction of the Health Care Model, +MAS Bienestar.
