Britney Spears reached an agreement with his father, Jamie Spearswith respect to a legal dispute ongoing legal fees related to your guardianshipas reported this Friday afternoon.

This agreement marked the closure of a long legal battle that both faced since the first court filing in December 2021. The conclusion of this legal showdown was reached in Los Angeles Superior Court on April 25, although the terms of the agreement have remained without disclosing.

The litigation is part of more than two years of legal efforts following the end of the guardianship that gave the singer’s father control over her life, a guardianship that ended in November 2021.

“Although the guardianship ended in November 2021, Your desire for total freedom is now truly complete“said Spears’ lawyer, Mathew S. Rosengart in a statement to the magazine People. “As she wished, her freedom now includes that you will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled in legal proceedings in this matter,” he added.

This understanding between father and daughter prevented both from having to go to trial for the alleged financial misconduct during Spears’ conservatorship, which was scheduled to begin in May, reported The New York Times. The dispute continued 13 year old guardianship which began in 2008, from which Jamie was removed as guardian in September 2021, terminating the guardianship two months later.

After the removal of guardianship, Jamie Spears initiated a request for judicial approval for more than USD 2 million dollars in fees he had paid to various law firms throughout the legal battle, in addition to paying the legal fees of his current defender.

News of this arrangement came after Britney, since being freed from conservatorship, has sold more than two million copies of her memoirs, The Woman in Meand released music with Elton John and Will.i.am. Despite these successes, Spears was adamant that a career in music is no longer a priority for her.

The aforementioned agreement closed a significant chapter in the artist’s life, allowing her to move forward without the legal ties that have linked her to her father in recent years. “Britney Spears won when the court suspended his father, and Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored”he continued Rosengartmaking it clear that this agreement is one more victory in the artist’s fight for her autonomy and rights.

At the beginning of this year, Britney denied rumors about her return to the music industry through a message on instagramcategorically stating that “will never return to the music industry”. This revelation came after speculation circulated about his collaboration with Charli XCX and Julia Michaels for a new album, which would have marked his first recording project in almost a decade.

However, she used a post on Instagram, where she shared an image of the Italian Renaissance painting “Salome with the Head of John the Baptist,” to make clear her position on her musical career.

In that context, the pop star also highlighted her role as composer for other artistssaying that he has written more than 20 songs for third parties in the last two years, preferring to keep a low profile as “ghost writer”.
