Ozzy Osbourne has revealed who is the best guitarist he has ever played with.

The Prince of Darkness has stated that the ax he has most enjoyed playing with is Tony Iommi, his partner in Black Sabbath. In his own words, speaking on the podcast he has with Billy Morrison (via Loudwire): “Iommi was and is the best fucking guitarist I’ve ever played with.”

Morrison then mentioned that what makes an artist “really iconic” is that others can play exactly the same notes but are not able to replicate them 100%.

“I’ve played ‘Paranoid,’ I’ve played ‘Children of the Grave’ and ‘War Pigs.’ Other guitarists can give the notes, but it’s not the same. I think a lot of Americans play them too fast. Tony Iommi, for the whatever reason, it’s fucking cool“Ozzy continues.

Ozzy had another favorite guitarist

In 2019, Osbourne declared that Randy Rhoads was the “best” guitarist he ever played with, that is, during his solo period.

“If I had to say which of the guitarists I would prefer to work with, who had the most musical training, it would be Randy, because he knew how to compose, he knew how to read, he knew how to play, he taught at his mother’s school and he was patient with me”the singer continued, “And he worked with me, instead of me having to work on top of what he put in. It was fun”.

The collaboration between Billy Morrison and Ozzy goes beyond a simple podcast

The guitarist of Billy Idol, Billy Morrisonpublished last March “Crack Cocaine” with Ozzy Osbourne to the voice and collaboration of Steve Stevens. In three days, the song has already accumulated more than half a million views in three days.

“Crack Cocaine” starts out very bluesy, but quickly establishes its hard rock sound with powerful guitar riffs. Osbourne takes care of the vocals on the song, taking center stage in most of the song.

And, despite its title, the song does not talk about drugs. The lyrics compare love with addiction, as its chorus says: “Loving you is driving me insane / I put you down and pick you up again / Like Crack Cocaine.”

Morrison and Stevens, both part of Billy Idol’s band, airily exchange powerful guitar licks, perfectly complementing the Prince of the tinibelas.

To all this, “Crack Cocaine” is the second preview of a larger work by Morrison, since the ax prepares to throw ‘The Morrison Project’, which will be released on April 19.

In addition to Osbourne and Stevens, other guest artists on the album include Idol himself, Corey Taylor, DMC, Al Jourgensen, Steve Vai, Linda Perry, Tommy Clufetos and John 5 (Mötley Crüe).

“One of the best things about writing this album was being able to let my guest singers do whatever they wanted“Morrison explained through a press release. “I sent them the song without any guidelines and let them do what they felt. I think that gave those songs an energy and a life force that wouldn’t be there if I had tried to get involved in their lyrics or their melodies. And I loved everything about it. what did you do”.
