We have previously talked about the bad reputation of computer animation (CGI) within the anime industry.and although there are extremely good works that make use of this animation technique, unfortunately there are more that end up making others feel sorry for poor execution.
And that is precisely what happened recently with the second season of “Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha (The Misfit of Demon King Academy)”, since its most recent episode attracted a variety of mockery on social networks for a segment where dragons made with CGI animation appear.
The dragon models are extremely rigid and stand out too much from the other two-dimensional models, which makes them attract even more attention. In addition, the movements are very robotic and the movement pattern with fairly short cycles is quite noticeable. All of this together led to the scene trending and attracting a multitude of negative comments.
It is worth noting that this series is being produced by the studios SILVER LINKunder the production of Aniplex. Interestingly, the second season of “Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha” went through a variety of suspensions due to production issues, but even that extra time was not enough to improve the final quality.
