Groups such as Gregorio Uribe, Rancho Apart, Changó, Joaquín Pérez and his ancestral heritage, Kombilesa mi and the Cumbia Stars became cultural ambassadors of the country on the stages of that American city to show the richness and diversity of the territory.

According to a note released here by the Foreign Ministry, there will be a total of more than 175 Colombian artists who will be in the Cultural Exchange pavilion, in an event in which close to half a million attendees are expected to attend.

Colombia has been described by the Festival as the cultural power of Latin America, according to the note released.

Some of the genres of the South American country present in New Orleans are salsa, cumbia, champeta, vallenato, chirimía and currulao.

In addition to the presentations on the 14 festival stages, daily parades are held in honor of the country’s traditions, which add to the immersive cultural experiences with indigenous and Afro-Colombian artisans, and the best of traditional Colombian cuisine.

During this weekend Bomba Stereo, Gaita loop, Jacobo velez and la mamba negra will also perform, among others.

The next cycle of the festival, which began on April 25, will be from May 2 to 5, and will feature the participation of Grupo Niche, Matachindé, Cimarrón, among others.

Colombian talent is also represented with 17 master artisans representing indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities from 10 departments of the country: Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Cesar, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, La Guajira, Nariño, Vaupés, Valle del Cauca.
