“It’s not just about moving your hips or performing a choreographic movement, it’s about an internal revolution: transforming limiting thoughts, going from thinking to feeling and being”Canal noted in an interview with Infobae Colombia.

“I created a system called Prem Shakti, which is the art of healing and celebrating feminine energy through Arabic dance and all its therapeutic benefits. It is not just dancing to a rhythm… Because it is a very powerful path of recognition of feminine power, a space to express women in all their diversity, regardless of age, size, stratum,” she expressed.

Antonina, with a career as a dancer, writer and lecturer that has earned her international recognition, dedicated her efforts to promoting the traditions and customs of the East in Colombia. Regarding her mission, she stressed that it is very much aligned with the slogans of female empowerment that predominate in the current conversation about the role of women in society.

“It is important that women do not lose sensuality and everything that makes us women”, he expressed. “Precisely this dance connects us with that sacred feminine space, its circular and undulating movements activate the right hemisphere of the brain, developing creative abilities and unlocking rigidity of body, mind, heart and spirit.”

On the other hand, when referring to the greatest challenge of putting on a show of that nature, he did not express doubts. “The challenge is to make it a reality in Colombia, without the support of public or private companies, ministries or government. It is a shame that dance, art and culture are so undervalued in our country. For me, dance is a path of reconciliation, peace, healing and repair of the being on all levels. “It has been an enormous effort to achieve 32 years of work and more than 400 shows in the most important theaters in the country,” she indicated, recalling the therapeutic benefits that dance generates in women, both physically and mentally.

“Hopefully at some point dance, art and culture will be taken into account with the importance they deserve and we can receive support from the government and the ministries of culture. We have done all this work with our nails”he sentenced.

As part of the staging of this dance show, Antonina had the collaboration of two dancers who will have their own moments as soloists during the presentation. One is the Russian-Egyptian dancer Oxana Bazaeva, an international judge in Arab dance competitions and choreographer with more than 15 years of experience, who will be giving a clinic on oriental choreography this Friday, May 24.

The other dancer who will perform as a soloist is Elianis Garrido, who with the end of her time as presenter in I know everything and the recent opening of her own dance academy in Bogotá, she faces a new chapter in her life, more focused than ever on her greatest passion.

“It has been a great challenge, a great joy and a great honor. I have known Antonina for years and I have had the opportunity to learn a lot from her about oriental dance at her academy. ”he stated in an interview with Infobae Colombia.

Likewise, he highlighted the great effort behind this production and its impact on all those involved. “People finally only see the result, beautiful. But for us as dancers, the effort, the work, the rehearsals, what is behind the show is what really helps us form. Not only as dancers, but as women”, he expressed.
