TTaylor Momsenthe artist who opens the concerts of AC DC in Spain, suffered a bat bite in the middle of the show. The video of the moment went viral on social networks, where they are already calling her #murciélago.

Momsen was performing the song “Witches Burn” with her band The Pretty Reckless when the small animal latched onto her leg. She did not realize it until the desperate public alerted her to the incident.

Taylor immediately called for help from his team, who quickly removed the bat from his leg; However, the show had to be canceled because Momsen had to be taken to a hospital to receive the rabies vaccine.

“He was cute, but yes, he bit me,” wrote the 30-year-old singer, who at that moment alluded to the song she was performing: “I really must be a witch.”

Momsen took it in stride. At no time did she look desperate. In a clip of her, in fact, she appears walking backstage saying that the bat “scared her” and that the small animal “clung on for dear life.” She also jokingly uploaded a photo in which she is seen posing next to a “no bats” sign.

At the hospital everything went well. Momsen thanked the medical staff for treating her in a timely manner and indicated that she will undergo a series of rabies vaccinations over the next two weeks.

In addition to being the lead vocalist of the rock band The Pretty Reckless, the young artist played Jenny in the famous series Gossip Girl.

How can rabies be transmitted?

In the United States, the animals most likely to transmit it are bats, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, and skunks. Stray dogs can do it too, but their incidence increases in developing countries.

The specialized site MayoClinic defines rabies as “a deadly virus that spreads to people through the saliva of infected animals (…) usually through a bite.”

Once a person begins to show signs of rabies, the disease “almost always causes death,” MayoClinic says. “For this reason, anyone who may be at risk for rabies should receive the rabies vaccine for protection.”
