Tuomas Holopainen, leader of Nightwish, and his favorite rock song: “We wouldn’t be us without Metallica” – Up to date

In a new interview with Rock Antenne (via Loudwire), keyboardist and leader of Nightwish, Tuomas Holopainen, has revealed what his favorite song in the history of rock is. His choice of her? The emblematic “One” by Metallica.

“I went to see Metallica and Guns N’ Roses in Kansas City in September 1992, and ‘One’ was the last song they played before the encore. It completely blew my mind“, continues Holopainen.

Without Metallica there is no Nightwish

On how Metallica has inspired Nightwish, Holopainen explains that it can’t be measured: “I don’t think Nightwish would be where we are now without that band. New Nightwish album

“When we had the first meeting with Nuclear Blast, talking about the new album and the singles, I told them that the first single would be a song called ‘Perfume Of The Timeless’, and that It lasts eight and a half minutes, and the chorus comes at 3:30. And they said: ‘Perfect!”the musician began explaining.

“I think that has to do with the fact that we have a long legacy. You know, we can do whatever we want, and I do it,, When I heard that for Spotify it is good that the voices start at 15 seconds or else people will skip it, I saw that they no longer have the attention span”, he finished commenting.
