On the occasion of Father’s day and in celebration of LGBTTTIQ+ Pride month, Lifetime will premiere its new original production Parents this coming Sunday, June 16 at 10 PM (Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Chile time). The plot of this film reflects on the evolution of the role of men in parenting and family diversity.

The production, which counts among its cast figures such as the former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, Luciano D’Alessandro (My fat beauty), Rodolfo Salas (protagonist of the Netflix fiction, Fake profile), Marcos Carlos (The story of don’t sleep) and the first Venezuelan actress Mimi Lazo (dramatic)tells the story of David and Bruno, a couple whose desire to be parents leads them to opt for Surrogate motherhood. The plot also shows how they face various emotional and legal challenges after achieving their wish.

The story of the film begins when Virginia (played by Dayanara Torres) decides to donate her eggs so that her twin brother David (Luciano D’Alessandro) and his partner Bruno (Marcos Carlos), who is the sperm donor, can become parents. However, Virginia carries out the entire procedure without informing her husband. Miguel (Rodolfo Salas), foreseeing that he, with a sexist mentality, would not approve it. The film is told from the perspective of Sebastián, a child born into a different, tolerant and inclusive family unit.

“When I read this script, it touched my soul. I definitely felt identified with Virginia, with my character. An extremely strong, dedicated woman, mother of two girls. I’m a mom, so I felt very much like her. I have two older brothers in real life and my younger sister, who I will give anything for them,” said Dayanara Torres during the presentation of the film to the international press.

Benjie Lopez (Loves that kill) directed the film, produced entirely in Puerto Rico by Rafael Abudo Massó’s Jurutungo Films in association with VIP 2000 TV and Lifetime.

Roxana RotundoCEO of VIP 2000 TV, added: “This film has great meaning, we acquired the script at a Worldwide Audiovisual Women Association (WAWA) Mentoring event and we worked on it together with the writer Annie Van Der Dys to reinforce our commitment to inclusion and diversity.”

Parents will be part of the special that Lifetime is scheduled to commemorate International LGBTTTIQ+ Pride Day on Friday, June 28, and will also be released in theaters in September. Lauren Levenson, Senior VP of Content Strategy for A+E Networks Latin America, commented: “We are very proud and happy at Lifetime to have an original production that is also made in 8K and that will be a world premiere for all. our audiences.”

Lifetime and VIP 2000 TV have previously collaborated on productions such as Loves that Deceive and films from the Lifetime Movies collection from Latin America such as Love at Christmas and Murderous Passionsstarring Clara Alvarado, Orlando Delgado and Nestor Rodulfo.
