Diana, Princess of Wales, also carried this trend to the princes william and harry next to the future King Charles III in the 80s. She not only took advantage of every opportunity to dress her children with sailor suitsbut he made the sailor dresses his own style signature for much of the decade.
Case in point: the dress Diana wore to Buckingham Palace immediately after England’s Privy Council approved her marriage into the royal family in 1981.

In 2022, Prince Louis attended the Trooping the Color with the same outfit in which his father had appeared on the balcony of the Buckingham Palace 37 years ago.
And in 2024 was the princess charlotte who wore a classic sailor dress which was reminiscent of both her mother’s monochromatic outfit, and those her grandmother Diana also wore.
