This is Disney+ after its relaunch to include everything from Star+: the Euro Cup and adult content arrive

The day finally arrived. This Wednesday June 26 it came to fruition the relaunch of Disney+with the platform incorporating all the content of Star+the other streaming that promoted the conglomerate of The Walt Disney Company in Latin America. The above implies not only adult series and movies, but also all ESPN sports content, including the current edition of the Euro Cup.

But why was this change made considering that Star+ was seen as a healthy platform? In the words of Natalia ScaliaGeneral Manager of Direct-to-Consumer at The Walt Disney Company Latin America, the decision was based on a study on the behaviors of its users in the last four years and the confirmation that the most successful plan of its offer was precisely that combo that allowed access to Disney+ and Star+.

“That was until the day before the launch the most successful plan we had throughout the regionthe one that had generated the most adoption and that also gave us back the best results in the metrics that we look at in the streaming business, fundamentally the one that has to do with subscriber retention“Scarlia explained in conversation with La Cuarta during a round table.

“I think the name of the game today in this industry is retention and that proposal is the one that our subscribers in the region chose by far and what we believe we are doing starting today is precisely responding to all that behavior that we observe this time , where our subscribers already have both productsthey already relate to both and we are simplifying the experience for them, bringing together the entire portfolio in a single application and making all the content accessible in one way. much simpler, with less friction in entering and exiting from one application to the other”, he added, emphasizing that the new Disney+ represents “a comprehensive product” for each member of the household.

The new Disney+

Broadly speaking, the relaunch of Disney+ implies that absolutely all Star+ content from this day on will be integrated as new content pillars for the platform. If in the past the axes of streaming were disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographicnow the new buttons are added ESPN and Star.

“The content remains current, both what is on Disney+ and Star+ and the complete portfolio is added, while in terms of sports we have an average of 700 live sports events per month”Scalia stressed.

The above means that everything that Disney+ had previously, with series like The Mandalorian and movies like The Lion Kingnow serial hits are added like The Bear, Grey’s Anatomy, Chucky, Shogun either Malcolm in the Middle and adult films from the likes of Poor Creatures and The fight Club or franchises like Die Hard, Predator and Alien, among many others.

Meanwhile, sports not only include the current edition of the Euro Cupwell there are also the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, Champions League, Premier League, Serie Atennis tournaments like the next one Wimbledonhe Tour de Francethe UFC and the programs of the WWERaw and Smackdown, among many other competitions.

But the other striking factor is that Disney+ will also incorporate ESPN linear channelsso as with cable television, users will be able to review the complete programming of ESPN and ESPN 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7in addition to ESPN Premium.

“It is everything that exists today, aggregated, there are no differences and it will continue to grow as we launch,” said Natalia Scalia.

The prices of the new Disney+

The new Disney+ will include several plans that will have different access values for new users who decide to join the platform.

But according to Natalia Scalia, Disney proactively made “a transition plan” so that all your existing subscriber baseno matter what plan they are on (Disney+, Star+ or their combo), go to the new Disney+ Premium plan which will provide access to the entire content catalog.

“Each of these subscribers has already received a communication, they have already been informed of the plan they have, at what price it is, which is obviously a preferential price which is not the public price that each of the tiers will have, but rather We are treating our existing subscribers preferentially and will deliver our highest value proposition to you immediately.”, stressed the General Manager.
