Havana-. Emilio Lozada García, head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), today praised the “Forum of Supporters of the fight against contemporary practices of neocolonialism” as a space for articulation to confront all colonial backwardness. that still exist.

When speaking via videoconference in the III preparatory session of the organizing committee of the event, headed by the United Russia party, the Cuban official also highlighted the opportunities to reinforce multipolarity and fight against the policies of blockades, sanctions, interference, media sieges and wars.

He pointed out that the persistence of colonialism and the new contemporary practices of neocolonialism are the old roots of the current economic, social and financial crisis that affects, above all, the poorest countries and the dispossessed majorities.

The disastrous consequences of this scourge, based on the exploitation and plundering of resources by the powerful over other countries and peoples, have generated the current unjust and unsustainable international order, he emphasized.

He highlighted that Latin America and the Caribbean constitutes the area of the planet with the most colonies and colonial enclaves, and in this sense, he reaffirmed the PCC’s commitment to the self-determination and independence of Puerto Rico.

Likewise, he said, the Cuban political formation supports the search for a negotiated, fair and definitive political solution that guarantees the exercise of the legitimate right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and to live in peace in their territory.

He condemned the indiscriminate attacks by the Israeli army against the civilian population in the Gaza Strip, the bombings of hospitals, ambulances and schools and the massive destruction of homes and vital infrastructure, which he described as collective punishment and a serious violation of International Humanitarian Law.

More than 60 years after the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the need to quickly and unconditionally put an end to colonialism in all its forms and manifestations, Palestine continues to be denied its own existence as a State, he said.

Regarding the particular case of Cuba, he affirmed that the criminal and genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on it by the United States has intensified like never before, and furthermore, the inclusion in the spurious List of State Sponsors of Terrorism has a deterrent nature. and intimidating in financial matters.

Likewise, he reiterated the PCC’s opposition to the Western sanctions policy against the Russian Federation and to the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization towards the borders of that Eurasian country, which constitutes the main cause of the war that is taking place today. pound on the European continent.
