However, the man would not have remained in the place.

SIEN personnel were already present to assist the victim and Police Transit personnel are investigating the incident and carrying out investigations at the scene, while also trying to order traffic.

The attempt to preserve the scene forced a detour of vehicles and this generated some delays.

What the police said

After the first reports, Deputy Commissioner Jorge Torres, of the Neuquén Traffic Division, informed LMNeuquén who intervened on the scene following the notice from the staff of Police Station 20, which was presented in the first instance.

According to what could be reconstructed, the incident “originated when The cyclist was traveling on Route 7 heading from south to north, and at Silvio Tosello Street, he was collided by a red vehicle.whose driver at the time of the intervention was not at the scene,” Torres said.

Apparently, the driver of said vehicle was traveling along the collector and wanted to enter the route, without noticing the approaching cyclist, thus causing the crash.

Although he initially left the place, minutes later he voluntarily appeared at the seats at Police Station 20, where He justified himself to the officers by stating that “he left because the cyclist was aggressive,” something that Torres could not assure.

This is an adult man, who showed up with the vehicle in question and all the documentation in order. It was also verified that a piece corresponding to the bumper that had fallen at the scene of the crash matched the car.

A breathalyzer test was also performed on the driver, which returned a negative result.

Finally, the accident experts subjected the car to the necessary tests and then let the driver leave.

As for the cyclist, he was transferred by SIEN personnel to the Castro Rendón Hospital, where he remains under observation although “without risk of life”. The details of his injuries are not yet available, which will be reported to the prosecutor’s office and will influence the decision of whether or not to charge the driver of the car.

Route 7 is the scene of accidents daily, mainly due to the high flow of cars that is recorded in the morning hours, with drivers traveling to different points in the Alto Valle but mainly between Centenario and Neuquén capital. Respect for the maximum speed and the recommended distance between vehicles is key to avoiding accidents.
