Pirate on two wheels! Tomás pedaled to Santa Cruz to encourage Belgrano

The passion for Belgrano has no limits. A young fan of the “Pirata” from Cordoba, Tomás Pomazan, embarked on an incredible bicycle journey from Argentina to Santa Cruz de la Sierra to witness his team’s match against Real Tomayapo for the Copa Sudamericana.

Tomás, 24 years old, traveled more than 1,700 kilometers on two wheelscrossing mountains, borders and defying inclement weather, all with the sole objective of encouraging his beloved Belgrano in Bolivian lands.

“From Argentina they sent me the money for the entry fee,” Tomás related with emotion. “Grateful to the people of Real Tomayapo who gave me a t-shirt and let me visit the stadium,” he added.

The match, which was originally going to be played in Tarija, moved to the Ramón Aguilera Costas stadium in Santa Cruz due to the disabling of Stadium IV Centenario. This situation did not discourage Tomás, who pedaled with even more fervor to witness the meeting in the new setting.

Belgrano will seek to add its first three points in Group C of the Copa Sudamericana when it faces Real Tomayapo. The “Pirate” comes to the match after two consecutive draws, so a victory would be vital for their aspirations to advance to the next phase.
