CARACAS – The Colombian Army discharged 15 guerrillas from the Central General Staff (EMC), the main dissident of the FARC, and left another 12 injured.

“During the development of operations in Cauca, a forceful blow was inflicted by neutralizing 15 individuals who would be members of the GAO-R Carlos Patiño structure, 12 more would be injured,” the Army posted on the social network X.

According to reports, it was an aerial operation in which several rounds and grenades were fired from helicopters.

After the operation, the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, said that “we must not play with peace.” Through X’s account, the New Granada president stated that “stopping the war means being serious about Peace. “The Central General Staff in Cauca has not had it when killing the civilian population.”

On March 17, the president suspended the bilateral ceasefire with the main FARC dissident in three departments after that group attacked an indigenous community. murder of an indigenous leader, as well as the repeated attacks and attacks by that group against civilians.
