The prosecutor of the Special Prosecutor’s Unit for Gender, Family and Sexual Violence (GEFAS) of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office 1, Alejandra Del Río Ayala, carried out the investigation and accused Serrudo of “sexual abuse with carnal access” and “serious sexual abuse outrageous termed “by the guard.”

After hearing the verdict, the prosecutor pointed out that “the court sentenced Serrudo for the criminal classification that we requested, to a sentence close to that which we requested in the accusation.” Meanwhile, she stated that “although we will wait for the reasons for the ruling, in principle we are satisfied with what was resolved.”

Del Río Ayala maintained that “the convicted man sexually abused the minor victim at the time she was going to primary school.” In this sense, she clarified that “because she was his goddaughter, they had a close relationship and she used to visit his house, where the crime took place.” According to him, “Serrudo violated the sexual integrity of the victim while she was sleeping.”

Likewise, the MPA representative highlighted that “years later, the girl managed to tell what had happened and her mother filed the complaint that led to the investigation.” In this regard, she specified that “the local Childhood Service intervened, which was already in contact with the family group for other issues, and recorded comments from different people to whom the victim had spoken about her condition.”

“The woman said that, in the building where they both lived, the convicted man sexually assaulted her on one occasion when she was asleep,” the prosecutor stated. “Serrudo’s ex-partner in turn spoke about this event with close friends and professionals who provided support and contributed data to the investigation,” she said.
