SEGE analyzes ending the school year earlier in SLP due to heat waves

The Secretary of Education of the State Government (SEGE) has raised the possibility of ending classes in basic education schools of San Luis Piotosí earlier than scheduled in the current school year, due to the high temperatures derived from the heat waves; However, an agreement has yet to be reached with authorities from the federal Ministry of Public Education (SEP).

As shared by SEGE personnel EL UNIVERSAL San Luis Potosí, the news could be given after the first half of May. In this way, there would be reasonable time for the organization of teachers, students and parents.

It should be remembered that, due to the extreme heat waves that occurred in 2023, the state governor ordered the class schedule to be cut so that the students did not suffer greater health effects due to the Climate conditions.

Likewise, in June of last year, 20 municipalities in the Huasteca potosina They had virtual classes, due to the high temperatures which in some areas reached almost 50 degrees Celsius.

For now, educational establishments are taking various measures to avoid damage to the health of minors. Among them are: avoid physical activities in the sun between 10:00 and 16:00, do without a sweater, vest or uniform jacket, try to stay in the shade and in cool places, in addition to keeping the classrooms ventilated and study areas.
