Prior to the great parade organized by the labor movement in Sancti Spíritus to celebrate this May Day, popular rallies were held in more than forty towns and communities throughout Sancti Spíritus to commemorate International Workers’ Day.
A great participation of working people and their families, different initiatives representative of local identity, peasant traditions and the actions of community cultural projects distinguished the events for the Day of the World Proletariat, both in the settlements of Plan Turquino and Condado, Pitajones , Jíquima del Alfonso and Sopimpa or the plains such as Mayajigua, El Majá, Guayos and Guasimal.
Ekaterina Gowen Dickinson, member of the Central Committee of the Party and general secretary of the Central of Cuban Workers (CTC) in the province, highlighted the respect shown by the people to the work of the Revolution and the decision to continue contributing to the construction of a free and sovereign country.
Just a few days before the march called for Wednesday in the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Serafín Sánchez Valdivia in Sancti Spíritus, the town events carried out until this Friday showed the pride and joy with which May Day is celebrated throughout the geography of Spiritus.
