Teachers from all over the country who make up the AC Teachers Alliance, including those from San Luis Potosí, organized to request the different candidates of popular election, that in the current electoral process that we are experiencing they worry more about taking care of what education has Mexican to be able to eliminate the educational gap in which we find ourselves.

In our country, a few weeks ago, the electoral process began for the renewal of the heads of the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch at the Federal and State levels. During the process, they observe that, so far, the educational issue does not appear as a priority within the agendas of the various candidates.

They have noticed that some candidates present proposals that do not address the roots of the educational problem, and focus on speeches in an effort to obtain the sympathy of voters. José Luis Rodríguez, Margarita Rosillo, Arturo Guerra, Marco Esponda, Norma León, José Telles, Graciela Meza, Rodolfo Pablo, Javier Mancilla, Carlos Aguirre, Laura Gurza and Israel Sánchez, are some of those who spoke for the education of this country.

“We observe that the proposals of the different candidates for popularly elected positions have as their main reference granting scholarships to advance in education, others are not considering parents as a fundamental factor within the educational process, some are very far from “Be clear about public policies in favor of once again dignifying the vocation, profession and work of teachers.”

They called on the different candidates for popularly elected positions to take into consideration education professionals because they are part of the formula to have a quality education. Likewise, to the leaders of the political parties and their councils, so that they observe that some of the candidates for popularly elected positions show attention and interest in offering those who could best contribute to Mexico.

The various interested parties in a popularly elected position were asked to seek the vote of the citizens, thinking about whether or not they are prepared to govern or legislate, if they have the necessary skills and knowledge.

They point out that it is important to be introspective because in the educational issue there has been, for several six-year periods, a crisis in our country. Initiatives have been presented each six-year period that have not had continuity or have lacked the relevant evaluations.

“At the moment we are still searching for answers and the problem is still present and growing. In the PISA 2022 test, Mexico obtained 126 points less than Japan, the best evaluated country. However, only six points separate Mexico from Colombia, the last place in the OECD.”

They stated that this country is the third OECD country with the lowest results in Mathematics and reading comprehension, and with the lowest scores in Science. In these exact sciences, a decline is observed to levels similar to those of 2003. There is a drop of (-24) points compared to 2009 and (-14) compared to 2018. (Public Policy Research Center, IMCO).

“We observe how the social decomposition that has been observed for several six-year periods reaches the educational community, MEJOREDU exposes in its report: Violence between basic and upper secondary education students in Mexico. Secondary school is the educational level where violence of all types occurs most frequently, both from the student perspective and from that of teachers and administrators. For example, in Cívica 2016, 6 out of every 10 students reported having been subjected to psychological violence and at least a fifth mentioned being subjected to physical violence.”

There are many other problems such as school dropout in many educational establishments, lack of adequate infrastructure, education is not provided with the relevant and adequate budget and its distribution must be fair, according to the needs of each federal entity. .

“We need an educational model that ensures that girls, boys and adolescents learn, train and transcend in their life projects and in the national project. Surely, many of you have your children in private school. Where are your proposals to strengthen them and generate a great ally in favor of education?

The teacher organizations demanded that all candidates from the different political forces incorporate education into their agenda as a priority, that the candidates who are elected by the citizens to lead the governments at the State and Federal level that the Secretary of National and State Education are people who know the subject and have experience, commit for six years to generating with their work the quality education that Mexico needs and warn that the Secretariat must stop being a political springboard.

They argued “We will promote the Campaign: “One vote for Mexico, One vote for education”, where we will encourage citizens to consider the projects and agendas of those who are willing to work and support in favor of Education.”
