Mariano Rebord (PJ) died this Saturday at his home in Colón, at the age of 62. It was as a consequence of the cancer for which he had been undergoing treatment for a long time. They declared three days of mourning with the flags on municipal public buildings at half-mast.

On his political side, Rebord was mayor of his town three times: 1999-2003, 2011-2015 and 2015-2019. In addition, he was a provincial deputy between 2019 and 2023. In his professional life, he worked as a dentist and director of the San Benjamín Hospital.

It should be remembered that in 2023 he tried to return to the mayor’s office. He was the first to overcome the PASO, beating Gastón Villanova within Peronism. However, he was defeated in the general elections by the neighborhood mayor José Luis Walser.

Duel

After hearing the news, the municipal president expressed his regret on social networks. “I regret the death of our Colon resident Mariano Rebord. I want to express my deepest condolences to his entire family for the sad loss of someone who knew how to give himself completely to his Community with great commitment and vocation, being three times Mayor and provincial deputy,” he said.

And he added: “I wish that God brings peace and strengthens his loved ones. I raise a prayer for the eternal rest of his soul. We will decree three days of mourning with the flags of municipal public buildings at half-mast.”

Rebord’s remains will be laid to rest starting at 6:30 p.m. in Orbe Colón.
