The negotiating team stressed that decisions must be made to continue with the talks.

The Government delegation at the dialogue table with the ELN asked President Gustavo Petro to define whether the talks will continue in Nariño with the Southern Comuneros Front of that guerrilla.

“Requests the President, as Head of State, to make the decision he considers regarding continuing to develop the work of the national dialogue table with the ELN, or to advance a dialogue table with the Nariño structure, or to determine that said structure has stopped to be part of the organization with which negotiations are being held at the national level, to develop an autonomous process with it,” reads the statement signed by Vera Grabe, Head of the Delegation, and Senator Iván Cepeda, who is also Delegate of the National government.

Likewise, the negotiating team highlighted that, although it is true that “subtracting rifles from the bloody confrontation that the country is experiencing is an obligation of the government,” decisions must also be made to continue with the talks.

“It is clear that the national government cannot advance a negotiation process in two instances with the same organization: in this case, a national dialogue table like the one that exists today with the ELN, and another in a process with a guerrilla front. “Such a circumstance is legally and politically unfeasible,” the statement reads.
