The Cuba Linda restaurant in Zaragoza, a direct trip to Old Havana

A visit to Cuba Linda is the closest thing that can be experienced in Zaragoza to a bar or a small winery in Old Havana. Images of the National Capitol of Havana, the boardwalk and some central streets of the capital dress the walls of the premises on brightly colored backgrounds. Besides, there is a lot of rhythm because the Caribbean boleros don’t stop playing and invite you to enjoy.

It’s been a little over a year since Henry Soto and Azul Sánchez embarked on this adventure in the first location where a classic of Cuban gastronomy opened its doors in Zaragoza, The palate. A few years ago moved to a larger location where to accommodate groups and organize events, but its spirit is still present.

In this new stage, Cuba Libre has been transformed into a cozy establishment to enjoy the food of the Caribbean country., but a lot of prominence is also given to cocktails and other mixed drinks. Daiquiri and different versions of mojito are the most popular.

Among the starters, two of their most popular dishes are the caribbean salad, where all the focus falls on tropical fruits and the honey and mustard sauce dressing. It is a refreshing dish for this time when you begin to crave fresh food.

The tamal surely it is the most Cuban recipe on the entire menu. Better known as ‘kill hunger’, it is a corn dough cooked with spices and roasted pork in habanero hash and ladybugs. It is very filling, hence the name, so it is especially recommended for sharing.

Among the main dishes, the most popular among customers are the Creole piglet (Cuban-style roast pork with congrí rice, yuca with mojo, salad and ladybugs), and The Bohio (beef clothes with congrí rice, fried yucca, salad and ladybugs with guacamole).

Are traditional recipes of Cuban cuisine, especially the shredded beef stew that is made slowly with tomato, pepper, onion and different spices. The result is a mixture of intense flavors around tender and juicy meat.

In this restaurant you can also try the Caribbean version of Cuban-style rice with fried ripe plantains, and the Jívaro dish is like broken eggs in which the potato is replaced by fried yucca. As for the accompanimentyou can choose beef ropa Vieja or a seafood option with shrimp sauce.

Almost all of them are individual dishes, although they can be shared. For this last possibility the best is the Cuba Linda dish, a kind of sea and mountain which has roast pork, Cuban chicken, beef ropavies and squid, accompanied by congrí rice and salad.

The cakes are homemade, like the coconut one and the guava one.and now that the good weather is here, the terrace is a good setting to enjoy the music, cocktails and food of Cuba Linda.
