The victim was identified as Carlos Álvarez, known on social networks as Charlie Álvarezas learned by the information system of Citytv. The young man shares content about technology, which has allowed him to have more than 1.4 million followers on Instagram and 4.9 million followers on TikTok.

Álvarez was intercepted around 10 pm this Friday, April 26, in the town of Teusaquillo, Galerías sector, when he was in his truck with another person.
“They are intimidated by three subjects with firearms, forcing one of the people to board the vehicle. We are alerted by those affected and we activate the padlock plan,” said Lieutenant Colonel Héctor Rodríguez, operational commander of citizen security of the Metropolitan Police. .
The truck was detected by the authorities on Las Américas Avenue and 43rd Street, in the Puente Aranda town. As seen in the video of a security camera, near a traffic light, The alleged thieves stopped the vehicle when they saw that the police were chasing them.

“Two flee, the third criminal brandishes his firearm and confronts the police,” said Colonel Rodríguez.
In the middle of the exchange of gunfire, the third man received hits to his lower extremities and a hit to the shoulder, managing to be subdued by the authorities.
Later, police units checked the car, where they found the influencer.
“A motor vehicle valued at 400 million pesos is recovered. In the same way, a firearm, supplier and six cartridges are seized,” said the colonel.
The alleged thief who was injured was taken to a medical center. He will be placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of motor vehicle theft and illegal trafficking and carrying of firearms.
Authorities are analyzing security cameras in the area to trace the escape route of the other two men involved in the attempted robbery and kidnapping.
From January to March of this 2024, 877 car thefts have been reported in Bogotáaccording to figures from the Police and the District Security Secretariat.
Most of the cases have occurred at night and early morning, and criminals have used master keys or firearms to take the vehicles. The towns most affected by these thefts have been Kennedy, Ciudad Bolívar and Puente Aranda.
