In commemoration of International Children’s Day, the Cali Tourism Secretariat, in collaboration with Metrocali and the Ruta 53 Collective of commune 20, carried out an activity at the tourist spots of the MIO Cable stations.

Very early the boys and girls arrived at the meeting point, the Cañaveralejo station. Many of them, despite living in the sector, had the opportunity to ride a MÍO Cable car for the first time.

The tour began at the Tierra Blanca station. Here, participants had the opportunity to enjoy local music and learn about the cultural traditions that characterize Cali.

Subsequently, the Lleras station was visited, which highlights the rich natural biodiversity present in the area. During this stop, participants were able to appreciate the beauty of nature that surrounds commune 20 and understand the importance of its conservation for future generations.

Finally, the route culminated at the Brisas de Mayo station, where narratives of myths and legends that have enriched the history and identity of the local community were shared. At this stop, the boys and girls learned, through stories, the traditions and beliefs that are part of the city’s history.

More than 50 boys and girls participated in this enriching experience of recreation and happy moments, thanks to the support of the Huellas de Amor and Juntos de la Mano con una Sonrisa foundations. This initiative allowed a day of recreation, knowledge and learning to recognize the identity of the territories.

Miguel Ángel Ulcué, from the Juntos de la Manos por una Sonrisa Foundation, expressed that “I saw new places, I played and I had a lot of fun.” Vanessa Rojas, from the same foundation, stated that “I had a great time, I got to know the stations and the one I liked the most was the music station.”

The Secretary of Tourism of Santiago de Cali, Mábel Lara, indicated that “Guaranteeing the rights of the boys and girls of Cali and promoting their identity and recognition of their territories through tourism not only benefits society as a whole, but also contributes to the preservation and appreciation of natural resources.” , cultural and historical that are part of the essence of Cali. “It is everyone’s responsibility to work together to build a more prosperous and sustainable future for the next generations.”

This experience was not limited only to the cultural sphere, but also addressed practical aspects of daily life in Cali, such as the importance of mobility in the capital of the Valley. “The boys and girls had the opportunity to learn, first-hand, about the different means of transportation that the city has, understanding their importance in urban mobility and in the daily life of its inhabitants,” said the director of the Ruta 53 Collective.
