Argentina has been the country chosen by the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, to carry out his first trip abroad of this new mandate between May 1 and 4. In addition to taking the opportunity to reconnect with the diaspora, he has decided to give it a strong economic character and support for the fishing industries, which is why he will make several visits to factories in the south of the country. Not in vain, sources from the Galician Government consulted by Europa Press have stressed that the trip will be “very focused” on supporting Galician fishing companies that work in Argentina, specifically, in the south of the country. Specifically, his plans include visiting three factories in Puerto Madryn and another three in Puerto Deseado. After visiting Argentina for the last time in October 2022, the Galician president’s objective is to be able to convey to the companies he will visit and to the productive sectors in general “the support of the Galician Government, key in the generation of employment and wealth and in the role of ambassadors of the Galician economy”. And although his agenda still has to be finalized, there will be no shortage of meetings with local authorities on his trip. MEETINGS WITH EMIGRANTS IN BUENOS AIRES AND COMODORO RIVADAVIA Likewise, the president of the Xunta will take advantage of these meetings to commit the support of the autonomous Administration to all Galicians residing abroad and their needs. Specifically, he will meet with members of the community in Buenos Aires and Comodoro Rivadavia. He will remind the representatives of the Galician community that all those who wish to return to Galicia also have the possibilities offered by the ‘Galicia Returns Strategy’, which aims to facilitate the return of 30,000 people until 2026.
