A serious accident left a motorcyclist dead in the south of Bogotá. The incident occurred in the surroundings of El Tunal park and the TransMilenio portal on the afternoon of this Sunday, April 28.
According to the report from the traffic authorities, the crash occurred around 4:40 pm on Calle 56A Sur and Carrera 24. The victim died at the scene.
Due to the emergency, Part of the central road of Boyacá Avenue was closedwhile criminalistics personnel arrived at the area to remove the body.
The Ministry of Mobility stated that these tasks can generate congestion, so drivers were recommended to take alternate routes.
Likewise, investigations will begin to establish the responsibility of those involved.
The panorama of motorcyclist accidents in Colombia
1,967 people have died in traffic accidents in Colombia, from January to March 2024, based on figures from the National Road Safety Agency. Of the aforementioned number, 1,185 have been motorcyclists, that is, they are the largest victims of accidents in the country.
In Bogotá alone, 78 motorcyclists have died so far in 2024which represents an increase compared to the 67 victims in the same period of 2023.

“Motorcyclists are part of the most vulnerable road actors on the roads and beyond numbers, they are families who lose their loved ones in mobility,” said Mariantonia Tabares Pulgarín, general director of the Agency, on a previous occasion.
Authorities have reminded drivers of the need to respect traffic rules, not exceed speed limits and check vehicles before traveling on the roads, with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of all road actors.
