Carabineros reached its best historical record in the survey, since 84% approve of the work they are doing. 45% believe that Ricardo Yáñez should remain in office until his term ends in October, compared to 29% who believe that he should resign before being formalized and 17% believe that he should resign once the culprits of the crime of the uniformed ones.

45% of those surveyed consider that the general director of Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez, should remain in office until his term ends, according to the latest Cadem survey.

The measurement corresponding to the fourth week of April precisely addressed the murder of three uniformed officers in Cañete, the worst attack suffered by the olive green police in their history.

Thus, 29% believe that the Carabineros boss should resign before being formalized, while 17% believe that he should leave office once the culprits of the uniformed crime are found.

Thus, 99% knew or heard about the attack in Cañete and 73% believe that it is associated with organized crime and terrorism.

However, in the midst of what happened, Carabineros reached its best historical record in the survey, since 84% approve of the work they are carrying out.

Regarding the measures that should be taken after the attack, 77% agree with declaring a state of siege in La Araucanía and Bío Bío; 85% with putting great urgency to the project created by the Ministry of Security; 87% that the police who confront organized crime have special immunity and protection; and 88% that the Armed Forces should be able to collaborate in citizen security tasks.

President Boric’s approval falls

In the fourth and last week of April, 30% (-2pts) approve and 65% (+3pts) disapprove of the management of President Gabriel Boric.

For 60%, the President would have a good or very good relationship with the PC and the PS (46%).

And, on the contrary, in the opinion of those consulted, they would have a bad relationship with large businessmen (42%) and with opposition parties (47%).
