This Sunday the dynamic test took place in Cienfuegos to verify the necessary assurances and conditions in the eight Municipal Electoral Councils (CEM) and the Provincial Electoral Council (CEP) for the elections of the governor and vice-governor, scheduled for next Saturday, May 4 .
As reported to September 5Amada Zequeira Angarica, president of the CEP, “it is up to the President of the Republic to propose the candidates for governor and vice-governor to the delegates of the Municipal Assemblies of the People’s Power, pertinent information (photographs and biographies) that are delivered to the representatives of the people of the Cienfuegos territory since Saturday, April 26, in accordance with the provisions of Law #127 (Electoral Law) with no less than 72 hours prior to the election date.
He also explained that each act will be chaired by the presidents of the CEM, who will participate in the scrutiny and notify the result to the provincial body, the latter in charge of carrying out the final count of the elections. Likewise, the deputy appointed by the Council of State will present the proposals for governor and vice-governor to the voters.
The president of the National Electoral Council (CEN) informs the President of the Republic and the President of the Cuban Parliament of the results of the election, after which she informs the population about them. If one or both candidates are not elected, the new election is held within 10 days following the day in which the previous one was held, as established by the legislative norm.
The Governor and Vice Governor are the highest executive-administrative officials of the territory and for their work they have a Provincial Council made up, also, of the presidents and vice presidents of the Municipal Assemblies of Popular Power and Mayors, as a collegiate and deliberative body that fulfills the functions provided for in the Constitution of the Republic and the laws.
