The Ecuadorian Police reported this Sunday that the former Miss Ecuador candidate Landy Párraga, 23, was murdered when she was in a restaurant in the city of Quevedo, Los Ríos province, one of the most violent in the country.
The Police informed in a message to journalists that the police units are collecting information and gathering evidence regarding the violent death of Landy P., in the Quevedo canton, Los Ríos, to clarify the causes and find those responsible.
For its part, the Ecuadorian Prosecutor’s Office indicated through X that its personnel were already on the scene to lift the body and carry out the first steps to “determine responsibilities”.
Párraga participated in the Miss Ecuador pageant in 2022 representing the province of Los Ríos.
In December 2023, in one of the chats published by the Prosecutor’s Office within the “Metastasis” case where an organized crime structure is being investigated that has left several detainees, the name of Landy Párraga came up in a chat conversation.
In the conversation, the murdered drug trafficker Leandro Norero would have worriedly commented to Helive Angulo, prosecuted in the Metastasis case and administrator of Norero’s assets, that Párraga’s name appeared in a prosecutor’s investigation for money laundering and stated that he did not want that the former candidate was related to him.
Norero would have paid money, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, so that he would not be linked to the former beauty queen in that case.
Witness Helive Angulo reiterated this topic of conversation with Norero during his early testimony at a hearing in March of this year.
After the death in Latacunga prison in 2022 of Leandro Norero, leader of a group linked to drug trafficking, signs emerged of a criminal structure that has affected State institutions, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
The former Miss Ecuador candidate and model Landy Párraga did not speak publicly about the Metastasis case in recent months and was not prosecuted by the Prosecutor’s Office.
