The Municipality of San Salvador de Jujuy intensifies its efforts in the fight against dengue, deploying a series of campaigns focused on the eradication of the transmitting mosquito, in a general plan that involves the participation of various areas.
In this regard, the Secretary of Planning and Environment, Adriana Díaz, highlighted that the municipality has carried out an exhaustive analysis of the territory, in collaboration with the Epidemiology area of the Ministry of Health, to identify the areas with the highest concentration of dengue cases. . Thanks to a heat map prepared with this data, priority sectors have been identified where efforts are concentrated.
“We are carrying out door-to-door visits in these sectors, notifying neighbors about the importance of taking preventive measures on their properties,” Díaz explained. “We urge residents to remove any containers that can collect water, such as pots and plastics, and to keep their terraces free of objects that can serve as breeding sites for mosquitoes.”
Within the areas analyzed, the secretary explained that “there are sectors of Alto Comedero, specifically between the Las Martas stream and the stream further south, where a high concentration of cases has been observed. Areas have also been identified in Malvinas, San Pedrito, close to Corrientes Avenue, Punta Diamante and some sectors of Coronel Arias.”
It should be remembered that these actions respond to the objectives established in Ordinance No. 7779/2022, which is the Environmental Code of the Municipality of San Salvador de Jujuy. This code’s main purpose is to “strengthen and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants, as well as the conditions of access to fundamental services such as health, food security, education and opportunities for personal and community development.”
The municipality called for community collaboration in this fight against dengue, urging all residents to take preventive measures in their homes and to report any possible source of mosquito proliferation.
